My experience today is a prime example of my “HI Life to HI Rise” experience.  Taking a walk through Central Park with my bff Derek, and caught myself walking in a tunnel and in a moment of deja vu. Unfortunately, we were missing Jonathan, the third person of our summer beach trio.  It’s too bad, because I know he would have enjoyed our Upper West Side cookie adventure to LeVain Bakery.         $4 for 4oz: Totally worth it.

“Can you spare some change?”

Date : November 9, 2011

After working with Peter and Paweena for the last couple of weeks, we finally finished our “BumBot” Project last week! After this project, we gained a new friend, Spooky.  Spooky gave us a great outsider perspective and was fun to hang out with.  Not only did people enjoy “BumBot”, but Spooky did too.  Hope you enjoy our short video and if you want to see our presentation, click here.

“Can you spare some change?” is a short documentary that examines the relationships between human-human and human-“robot” interactions. A robot, “BumBot” was created by Parsons MFA Design and Technology students in collaboration with “Spooky,” a homeless citizen in New York City. “Spooky” drove “BumBot” around Union Square, and shared his perspective on the differences between human-human and human-robot relationships for one homeless citizen — himself. The documentary created a poignant examination into human relationships and the social landscape of New York City. The viewer is also asked if they can spare some change in their hearts.

Monkey gets a makeover.

Date : November 2, 2011

Remember my paper monkey? Well, he got a little makeover.  For our midterm project we needed to combine the coding language on screen (Processing) with our Arduino circuit board to create a visible interaction. If you’re interested what that looks like, check out  my class post here.   I made my monkey a new body out of felt, to encase the circuit boards and LED’s and got my coding problems worked out with some help from my friend Daniel.  Don’t want to frustrate you with what that looks like so just take a look at this video:
