From prototype to paper product. This past week I completed the Nautilus lamp I designed with inspiration from this Nautilus lamp, by New Zealand designer Rebecca Asquith. This project was an exploration into paper computing, and making switches using an LED , copper tape and a 3Volt battery. Everything else was made out of paper–it’s amazing what you can do with a few simple components. I look forward to making multiple sizes of this and maybe exploring different shapes.
I’m making a lamp! With inspiration from New Zealand designer, Rebecca Asquith’s Nautilus, my next Soft Circuits project will incorporate the motion of opening the shell to turn the lamp off and on. Here is the rough prototype I am working with now. More to come soon!
Made from Copper Tape, CuProCote Conductive Ink, LED’s, 3V Batteries, paper, and some creative thinking, these are some experiments into the world of paper-computing. I want to one day be able to make something as cool as the Electronic Popables Book by Jie Qi at MIT’s Hi-Low Tech.
