A speeding car, fast Mexican street food and the bar for the roommate’s birthday—the weekend was over fast and now it’s time to work furiously through homework. Hugs.

A full day of playing tourist in NYC with good friends from Maui. An all day affair of eating. Early morning sun, lasagna lunch from Eataly to an afternoon “snack” from Tasty Hand Pulled Noodles in Chinatown. Small shop, good noodles, just like the movie, Kung Fu Panda.

Never got into the show, but totally into the building. These lights are up all year long, but walking down 5th Avenue tonight, Santa’s elves were putting up Christmas lights on some trees. It’s beginning to look like Christmas, in October.

Rain boots on my feet, umbrella in hand and looking north on 5th Avenue. Isn’t there supposed to be the Empire State Building in those clouds?

The beauty of NYC is not always what you see in front if your face but what you see in the sky. Sometimes I cringe walking the dirty streets and dodging crowds of people. Then, I take a moment, and think about all the things I learned in the past year. Not only about myself, but living in the city. Proves that when you put your mind to something, it really can happen. So this is what I say today– flying planes, birds taking a bath, and of course this big, bold, buildings. Just another day in the city.

Being in NY with so many amazing, quality treats at my finger tips I spent my extra dollars on something for myself. Best. Dessert. Decision.

I have been making an effort to MAKE things. Not just anything, but hand painting some bracelets to be specific. I started off with just one for a birthday gift. Inspired by some designs I saw online, I thought “I could do this too.” I found some reasonably priced blank wooden bracelets and off I went. It has been very relaxing for me to do this. I enjoy spending time away from my computer and making things. The beginning was a rough since I was trying to figure out the right technique. Now that I have six complete, I finally got a system down and figured out what works best when painting. This sure helps to break up the constant thoughts about my thesis!

Double post below—uh oh. Looks like an Internet glitch. I thought about deleting one, but then I thought back to the conversation I had with Dr. Paul Levinson Monday at Fordham (photo above from my walk back to the train). I am exploring thesis ideas and something he mentioned was that books will always be there. Once they have been printed, they aren’t going anywhere. However now with the Internet, we can change things on the fly, delete the unwanted instantly, and hide mistakes. There leaves no room for error because someone can always make the wrong, right.

I decided to leave the double post below as a reminder that everyone is human, and we all make mistakes. I could have went back and changed history, but this time I decided to leave it. Sure it makes you think you are seeing double, or maybe questioning my ability to hit the “publish” button, but it is not a bad thing. The immediacy of the Internet has allowed us expect a certain level of perfection all the time, but nobody is perfect–that would be boring.
