Yesterday on a FaceTime call with G-Flo, told me she hates water because its “boring.” I suggested she put something in it (referring to Crystal Light, or flavored water drops) and she responded, “Like what, vodka?” UM. WHAT.

We grew up with a Gramma who was never something I considered “normal.” She was not quiet or afraid to speak her mind. In fact, she makes what is on her mind known pretty well. She doesn’t yell often, but she did if you deserve it. G-Flo taught me how to be Japanese but I did not always willingly listen. (Just look at this picture.) Although, something must have stuck because after years and years of Japanese dance and learning Japanese, the root of my personal work stems  from my heritage.

G-Flo built herself an army of tough Japanese girls, and strong ones too. Now it’s time to take care of her. I’ll get her that water, but not put in the vodka. We save the vodka for the orange juice.
