Homework: Make a “creature” that responds to some kind of input. You can make your creature robotic or organic, playful or CrAzY, but whatever you do, use sound and LEDs to give us a sense of it’s personality. Also, think about what your input will be (button, flex sensor, light sensor, etc.), and how it might relate to the “creature”.

Concept:  I started researching the Light Sensor and I ended up learning a lot about Photocells and altering a code from ladyada.net. I wanted my red LED to represent a heart, but then what? I wanted it to react to the light sensor.  So then what? Then, it hit me.

Light is something that we SEE, so why not have a creature that reacted to the dark and light that was coming in through the eye.  I did the wiring and then drew up this monkey.  The monkey’s heart is constantly lit, except when he gets too cool and puts on his sunglasses, he can’t see you anymore, so his “love” for you decreases.  The light sensor is in the monkey’s eye. The difference is hard to see so I also used black material to complete cover the light sensor.  By doing this, you can clearly see that the sensor does indeed react and turns the monkey’s love on and off!
